The video is fake. The left end of the stick is cleverly hidden, so that the transparent plastic string attached to it, is not visible. At the other end of the canal, a fellow holding the other end of the stick starts pulling it as soon as the stick is released in water. Such stick can move only in flowing water against the direction of flow, but not in stagnant water as is shown in this doctored video
